Obituary

Lebertha Bellamy Pugh, 92 entered this life November 4, 1930, and joined her Savior and the love of her life, George James Pugh on February 18, 2023. She was greeted by her father, Amos Bellamy, mother, Mayo Bellamy, twin sister, Robertha Bellamy, Brother, Ben Bellamy and best friend and sister-in-law, Ruth Esther Richards Pugh. Lebertha and George were married for over 60 years and resided in Denver, CO. She was an Elementary School Teacher for Denver Public Schools for over 30 years and a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Lebertha loved children and although she did not have any children of her own, she was a “mother” to her “7 children” as she called them, in Pueblo CO. She was greeted by her niece Linda Pugh, and is survived by her nieces and nephews, aka, “children” Herbert “Ronnie” (Freda) Pugh, Theresa Pugh, Alvin Pugh, Kennedy Pugh, Horace (Karen) Pugh and Patti Pugh. Lebertha and George helped raised them and were an integral part of each of their lives. In addition to her “children” we also must mention her best friend, walking partner, confidant, “friend girl” – Margie Anderson of Denver, CO. Margie faithfully remained a very important person in Lebertha’s life and was consistent in keeping in contact with Lebertha and how she was doing. We will always treasure the lifetime of countless memories with Lebertha forever! She is also survived by her sister in Florida, Mary Hughes and nieces and nephews in Texas, Minnesota and Louisiana. After retirement, George and Lebertha enjoyed many years of traveling the country together. They are now walking around Heaven together! In 2015, when their health began to decline, George and Lebertha moved to Pueblo, Colorado to be cared for by their “children” in the Pugh Family Home. In 2017, George passed away and Lebertha remained in the care of her “children” and 2 amazing caregivers: Ida Montoya and Melissa Jaramillo. The family will forever be grateful for the love, compassion and dedication to Lebertha receiving the best care possible. THANK YOU! Alzheimer's may have stolen her memories and abilities to care for herself, but she possessed the secret to the fountain of youth. At the age of 92, she did not have one wrinkle, absolutely beautiful skin and very minimal grey hair. She was and always will be the classy lady that was loving, generous, philanthropic, humorous, and overall, the perfect mother…, friend,… wife anyone could ever ask for.
