Manuel M. Vargas, 80, passed January 26, 2025 in Pueblo, CO. He was born in Alliance, Nebraska on September 28, 1944 to parents, Guillermo and Socorro (Montiel) Vargas. Both precede him in death along with his wife, Wanda E. Vargas; stepdad, Lupe Ruiz; brother, Jessie Vargas, sisters, Helen Flores and Pat Gonzalez.
Manuel was a proud Navy veteran. He retired with 30 years of service from Xcel Energy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family and supervising yard work. He was a teacher at heart always teaching his grandchildren something. Manuel loved to go to Denver and spend time with Joe and Manuel having the times of their lives. He also loved going to the movies. His grandchildren were fortunate to see every Harry Potter movie. Manuel had a great sense of humor, so funny he could make you laugh in a heartbeat. He was very loving and kind. He loved sharing stories, his lessons, and words of wisdom with each of them.
Manuel is survived by his daughter, Erica C. Vargas (Ben Rivera); sons, Manuel M. Vargas Jr. and Joseph Lopez; 9 grandchildren, Breanna, Reina, Arianna, Shi, Koa, Kruz, Brittany, Brandi, and Jordan; 9 great great grandchildren; siblings, Irene Hayes, Ernestine Camirillo, and Ernesto Vargas; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members who love and will miss Manuel.
Funeral Mass, 10 am, Fri., Feb. 7, 2025 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Military honors, Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.
