Manuela D. Lopez, 92, affectionately known as “Nellie”, passed away June 2, 2021. She was married for 74 years to Teodolo “Ted” Lopez who passed away on March 6, 2021. She was born Aug. 23, 1928 in Pueblo, CO to Felípe and Micaela (Losoya) Diaz, who precede her in death along with; brothers, Phil and Dan; sisters, Carmen, Fransisca, Josefina, and Socorro; daughter, Pamela. She retired with 22 years of service as Deputy Clerk in the Motor Vehicle Dept. of Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder’s Office. Nellie was very active in Local Democratic Politics, Catholic Church activities to include St Joseph Council of Catholic Women, and Nocturnal Adoration Society. She was also involved in FO Eagles, Women’s International & US Bowling Congresses. She leaves to cherish her memory; her children, Diane Stanger (Ron), Ted Lopez Jr., Midge Tapia (Ernest), Louise Martinez (Adrian), David Lopez (Erika), Laura Heckhausen (Kim), and Jessica Lopez; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Celia Maravilla, Mary Baca, Vera Martin; brothers, Arthur Diaz, Robert (Carol) Diaz; others relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Mass of Christian Burial 10 am, Wednesday, June 16, St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment Imperial Memorial Gardens.
A reception will follow at the American GI Forum Hall, 125 Hector Garcia Pl. at 2 pm.
