Marian Jean Awmiller
Born October 27, 1947, to Doris June and Jean C. Maupin at the Greeley Colorado Hospital.
Her Dad came home from the Navy on leave when she was born and asked, “How is my little Cookie” and from there on, that remained her nickname.
Jean went to several schools in northeastern Colorado while growing up, but attended Brush schools from 5th grade on, graduating from Brush High School in 1965.
She worked at Carrol Motor Company in Brush as a secretary for a year before marrying Jerry Awmiller in 1966. They moved to Colorado Springs and later to Pueblo in 1977. She worked for JC Penny until retiring in 2010 after which they became snowbirds in Yuma, AZ, where they built many close friendships.
Jean valued her family and friends tremendously and always enjoyed life. Pickleball was her favorite sport to play but she loved watching the Rockies and the Avalanche. She had a special affinity for animals, and loved her two dogs Kizzy and Mimi greatly.
Jean is survived by her son, Michael Awmiller (Susie) and daughter Melissa Janusz (Bernie), granddaughter’s Cassie Daly, Marissa Awmiller, Kaci Awmiller, and grandson Kyle Awmiller.
She is also survived by three sisters Marsha Mills, Melody Mawyer, and Jody Fournier. Further survived by aunts, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Jerry Awmiller.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Parkview Medical Center and 3SW for the exceptional care they gave Jean during her time there.
There will be a private Celebration of Life on July 18th from 2:00pm-5:00pm at the Gold Dust Saloon in Pueblo, CO.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Paws For Life
