Mary R. Ortiviz, 88, passed away peacefully on Nov. 18, 2024. She was born Oct. 30, 1936 in Gardner, CO to proud parents, Pete and Elizabeth (Baca) Trujillo, both precede her in death along with her loving husband of 60 years, Lucas Ortiviz; daughters, Ruth Ortiviz and JoAnn Garza; son-in-law, Art Garza; grandsons, Ruben Ortiviz and Artie Garza.
Mary was a home health care provider for many years. She loved planting flowers and seeing them grow. Mary loved to cook and enjoyed having Sunday dinners at her home surrounded by her family. She was very faithful and instilled into her children the importance of always having and keeping the faith. She had a great sense of humor; she always knew how to make you smile. Her greatest joy was being the matriarch of four generations. Mary centered her life around her children and family. She was the best mom, grandma, gram, and granny. Her priority was always her family, she shared life stories, lessons, words of wisdom and her love for each of them.
Mary is survived by her children, Victor Ortiviz, Bobby Ortiviz, and Loretta (Paul) Garcia; her six grandchildren: Pete (Nicole) Ortiviz, Isaac (Victoria) Ortiviz, Luke Ortiviz, Alvin (Liz) Ortiviz, Mike (Jeannie) Garcia and Ruthie (Lupe Valdez) Garza; great grandchildren, Melanie, Liyah, Khloe, Anubis, Osiris, Violetta, Jasmine, Dezzarae, Leroy, Annalycia, Uriah, Isabell, Luke, Nate, Vinnie and Jake, Elijah and Isaiah; two great great grandchildren, Zakiaha and Belle; sister-in-law, Erma (KiKi) Guzman; brother-in-law, Angelo (Josie) Arellano; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and “Little Girl”, her four legged companion and guardian who never left her side.
Funeral Mass, 1:30 pm, Wed., November 27, 2024 at St. Francis Xavier Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery.
Special thanks to Sangre de Cristo Hospice; her CNA, Karen; and granddaughter, Violetta who took great care of our mother.
