It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Gloria Cornejo, a devoted Catholic and lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Pueblo, Colorado. Gloria entered eternal rest on September 19, 2025, surrounded by her familia and loved ones.
Gloria was born on August 3, 1950 in Pueblo, Colorado to Manuel and Josefina Rodriguez.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Josefina Rodriguez, and her older brother, Guadalupe Rodriguez.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Gloria prayed the rosary daily and lived each day with devotion, grace, and humility. She held a deep devotion to both Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who guided her through every stage of her life.
Gloria was raised in Pueblo, in the Barrio neighborhood. She grew up surrounded by a rich blend of Mexican and American cultures, and she carried that pride throughout her life. Always devoted to her family traditions and her cultura mexicana, Gloria honored her heritage through her faith, her cooking, her celebrations, and the love she poured into her family.
Gloria dedicated more than 30 years of service as a telephone operator with AT&T in both Pueblo and Colorado Springs, where she was admired for her hard work, reliability, and kindness toward others.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 45 years, Ismael, who was her partner in life and faith. Together, they built a strong and loving family. Gloria was a devoted mother to her three children: Jose, Mario, and Teresa, and a loving mother-in-law to Kristina Cornejo and Monica Chacon. She was the proud grandmother to her three greatest joys, her Güeros: Victor, Veronica (Frank Ruiz), and Vivian. Recently, her heart was filled with even greater joy as she became a great-grandmother to her precious Elisandro Mateo, lovingly known as her “little bear”.
Gloria is survived by her siblings: Maggie Flores (Ezequiel), Estevan Rodriguez (Janet+), Angie Sigala, Eva Rodriguez (Ron), Frances Gonzalez-Rodriguez (Alfredo), and Manuel Rodriguez (Michael), as well as her sister-in-law Mary Rodriguez and numerous beloved nephews and nieces. She also treasured the lifelong friendship of her dear friend and comadre, Socorro Cisneros.
Funeral services for Gloria will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Parish (421 Clark St., Pueblo, Colorado) on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Rosary will begin at 2pm, followed by the funeral Mass at 2:30pm. Interment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Parish in Gloria’s honor.
Gloria’s legacy of love, faith, culture, and family will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be remembered for her selflessness, her unwavering prayers, her pride in her heritage, her dedication to her work, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her.
