Mary Jane (Toody) Anthony Neal Obituary

Mary Jane (Toody) Anthony Neal passed away on August 2, 2018. She was born on November 14, 1943 in St Martinsville, Louisiana. Her parents, Arthur and Alice Filer Anthony of St. Martinsville, La. preceded her in death, along with a sister, Rona Ruth Nicholas.

She attended Notre Dame elementary school in St. Martinsville, Louisiana, and graduated high school from Holy Rosary Institute in Lafayette, Louisiana in 1962. She attended college at University of Southern Louisiana, and upon moving to Colorado, attended Southern Colorado State College. Her employers included the Colorado State Hospital and Pueblo Regional Center, where she worked as a scheduling supervisor. She retired after 35 years from the center in 1999.

Mary Jane was a member of the following organizations: Star Pueblo Chapter #5 of O.E.S. P.H.A. attaining the title of Worthy Matron; Grand Worthy Matron of Columbine Grand Chapter P.H.A; The Golden Circle, and Kadesia Court #162, an auxiliary to the AEAONMS; President of American Legion Auxiliary #163. She also served in the following capacities: president of the Pueblo NAACP, AFSCME secretary and treasurer, board member of PAACO, and board member of MLK celebration.

Mary Jane was a wonderful, caring person, always willing to help others. She was an active member of many organizations, and a trustee for the Pueblo Juneteeth celebration, and served as an election judge. She was a frequent traveler with her husband, both in the United States and abroad in such locales as Korea, Bahamas, and Mexico. An avid Denver Broncos season ticket holder, you could find her at the tailgates and in the stands, cheering the Broncos on.

Mary Jane leaves behind a loving husband of 47 years, Torrence Neal, from Pueblo, Colorado, her children, Tara Lynn Neal and Torrence L. Neal, her daughter in law, Tanya Sais-Neal and three grandchildren Morbia Neal, Aisha Neal, and Joelle Neal .

She is also survived by three sisters, Willa Butler of La Marque, Texas, Shirley Jenkins of Denver and Jonnie Gail Jackson of Lafayette, Louisiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.         

The family would like to thank the Sangre De Christo Hospice for their service and care for Mary Jane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sangre de Christo hospice in Pueblo, Colorado.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 10th, 10 am at St Joseph Catholic Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery
