Merlin Z. Ortiz

Merlin Z. Ortiz, 32, passed away unexpectedly August 6, 2025. A lifetime Puebloan he was born July 11, 1993 to proud parents, Pablo P. Ortiz and Cherry Valdez. Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Helen Chacon and Pablo P. Ortiz Sr.

Merlin was an excellent cook. He loved to make special dishes for his family and friends. He enjoyed rock climbing, working out to stay fit, and spending quality time with his children, especially playing Horse with his boys. Most of all Merlin loved being with his family.

Merlin is survived by his mother, Cherry Valdez; father, Pablo P. Ortiz; children, Jeramiah Martinez, Merlin Ortiz Jr., Jiselle Ortiz and Zariah Ortiz; siblings, Jaylena Alires, Samantha Alires, Eric (Alisha) Alires, Maria Valdez, Misty Ortiz and Pablo Ortiz Jr.; grandparents, Candance Miller and Fedrico Valdez; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who love Merlin and will miss him.

Funeral Service, 2 pm, Wed., Aug. 13, 2025 at The Angelus Chapel.
