Peggy Sue Stephenson, born on January 18 th , 1952, passed away on Saturday, December 2nd at the Joni Fair Hospice House following a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her father,

Richard Eugene Flinn, her nephew, Jeremiah Breidenbach and Sister in-law, Lizz Flinn. She leaves behind her husband of 12 years, Marvin Tompkins, her children, Shawn Stephenson,

Annie Marchman, and Susan (Mike) Awmiller, stepson Kent (Amy) Tompkins, and her grandchildren Francis, Marissa, Jordan, Ava, Kyle, Kaci, and Grayson. She is also survived by her

mother, Laverne Flinn, brothers Richard (Sheila) Flinn, Bruce (June) Flinn and sister Tracey (Charlie) Breidenbach, sister in-law Frances (Gary) Martin-Barnhart and brother in-law Melvin

(Ruth) Tompkins, as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless friends and colleagues. Peggy was born and raised in La Junta, Colorado where she attended grade school through high

school. Following high school, she attended Otero Junior College where she received her associate degree in business. She met her ex-husband, and father of her children shortly after

she moved to Pueblo. They went on to adopt 3 children and moved to Pueblo West to raise their new family. She spent many days with her children at the Pueblo Reservoir, boating and

socializing with all the boaters, and even ran the Hot Dog Stand that the North Shore Marina once had. Peggy started her career early on at School District 70’s Pueblo West Elementary School, being a kitchen cook, bus driver, and moving on to become the secretary of Pueblo West Elementary School. She not only took pride in being a part of Pueblo West Elementary and District 70 but

truly relished the friends she made during this time. Peggy also proudly received the Classified Employee of The Year Award from District 70. She then spent a few years at District 70’s

administration office where she continued her love for education. Here Peggy met her very best friends Rosie Deltonto and Cheryl Gomez, both of whom she had a long-lasting friendship with.

Peggy finished her career at Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences where she had the honor to be the Secretary to the Principal, before retiring.

In June of 2011 Peggy married her husband Marvin, with many friends and family attending. During their marriage they enjoyed camping, going to Rockies games, playing cards and games,

working on their house and yard, and listening to music at their favorite bar with their friends. She also enjoyed golfing and dancing at Trani Supper Club and Eagles with her husband and

friends. She loved being social and getting together with her numerous friends and groups. Her smile could be seen from anywhere, and her contagious laugh could be heard from afar.

Peggy cherished the time she spent with her grandkids and spent as much time as she could with them, especially after retiring. Her family meant the world to her, and she meant the

world to her family. She had the kindest heart and treated everyone as if they were family. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with, and she will always

be remembered. Please share your stories of remembrance on Saturday, January 20 th at 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church at 310 W. 11 th Street, Pueblo, CO 81003. A Celebration of Life
