Pilar Mary Jasper de Montelongo

Pilar Mary Jasper de Montelongo, 89, affectionately known as "MaryJane", passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on October 10, 2023. Born to the union of Luz and Maria Montelongo on October 12, 1933 in Holly, CO. MaryJane is survived by her children Vikki (Carlos) Casias, Robert (Maria) Montelongo, Claudea Jasper, and Steve Valdez. Brothers - Luz Montelongo Jr, Hank (Liz) Montelongo, Joseph (Joyce) Montelongo, Frank (Arlene) Montelongo, Sisters - Margaret Cedillo, Maria Gonzales, Julie Quintana, Antonia "Toni" Burmann, Jennie Arellano, and Helen Montelongo, Aunt Connie Guerrero and special friend David Guerrero. 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband Claude Jasper, parents Luz and Maria Montelongo, brother Pete Montelongo, sisters - Pauline DeNava, Monica Rivera, Lupe Montez, and Sally Cooper. 

MaryJane was the matriarch of her family and above all a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with all of her family listening to music and reminiscing on their many shared memories. She loved to dance, especially with her late husband Claude. Many a time, they cleared the dance floor when they danced to "Kansas City".  MaryJane was an avid Broncos, Rockies, and Nuggets fan. She loved to watch them win and yelled when they lost. MaryJane worked for over 50 years of her life as a cook at Chuck's Lunch and as a housekeeper at St. Mary Corwin and Parkview Hospitals. For every occasion - work, family gatherings, or anything else she did, MaryJane always made sure she was the best dressed. MaryJane took care of countless family members throughout her life and always provided a warm home and hot plate of food for anyone who came to her house. Among the many things MaryJane will be remembered for, her humor, grace, and giving heart will never be forgotten. Viewing, 2 pm - 4 pm, Thurs. Oct. 19, 2023 for extended family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be Fri. Oct. 20, 2023 at 10:45 am at St, Joseph's Catholic Church, 1145 S Aspen Rd, Pueblo 81006.
