Prudence Anna Medina (Vigil)

Prudence Anna Medina (Vigil), 99, passed away peacefully surrounded by Family on Monday August 7, 2023. Prudy, as she was known to many, was born on February 22, 1924 in Colmer, New Mexico to Florio and Elena (Lopez) Vigil who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jose Leandro Medina (1999) and her youngest son William (Bill) Medina (1998). She was also preceded in death by two Daughter-In-Laws Diana (Pacheco) Medina and Ruby (Vigil) Medina and two Son-In-Laws Frank Villegas and Luis Alires. She is survived by seven children, Gilbert (Candy) Medina, Alfred (Sandy) Medina, Isabel (Frank *D) Villegas, Chris (Diane *D) Medina, Edward (Ruby *D) Medina, Lucille (Luis *D) Medina and Lewis (Patricia) Medina. She leaves a legacy of 5 Generations to include 18 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, and 9 Great-Great Grandchildren, with one on the way. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and many other relatives and friends whom she loved and will miss her dearly.

Our mother was an avid reader, loved working in her flower garden, she was a Great Cook, was very religious and prayerful and recited the rosary and read her Bible every evening. She was very involved in her Eastside community and was the last surviving founding member of the Casa Verde Mothers. She was a member of the group who established the Guadalupe Church on East Second Street in Pueblo.

She was the last of all her siblings to die and she missed them dearly. We thank all members of the family who shared in caring for our Mother during her illness. We thank the Sangre de Christo Hospice House and in particular Ellie and Annette for their loving help in caring for our mother, we also thank Hope Rivera for the care she provided to our Mother.

Funeral Services are scheduled for St Joseph’s Church, 1145 S. Aspen Rd Pueblo CO 81006 on Monday August 21, 2023. A Rosary will be recited at 9:15 am just prior to the Funeral Mass scheduled for 10 am. Interment will follow at Imperial Gardens, 5450 Hwy 78 West, Pueblo CO 81005.
