Raymond “James" Gallegos, 65, passed away May 31, 2025. A lifetime Puebloan he was born March 22, 1960 to parents, Felix and Oralia (Martinez) Gallegos. Both precede him in death along with his son, Raymond Gallegos; sisters, Joann Gallegos and Cynthia Gallegos; and mother-in-law, Eva Pino.
James was a man who loved the outdoors. Camping and visiting his family farm in Aguilar were among his favorite pastimes. And no one could grow a garden like him. He loved fishing and hunting with his brothers.
He was a talented craftsman. He could build anything, fix anything. And he did-for friends and family. His talents extended to the kitchen. Famous for his tortillas and menudo, he’d get requests from multiple family members, and he’d deliver.
To know him was to love him. Growing up in Pueblo and serving in the U.S. Army he made friends everywhere.
James was cherished by his sisters and close to his brothers. He was the best uncle. Every kid knew they could count on him for candy and a game of chase.
His most treasured title was grandpa. He always attended their games and concerts, and he always brought flowers and the best snacks. He loved his three daughters, Nicole, Natalie and Christina more than anything. James was blessed with the most devoted and loving wife, Barbara. He will be missed beyond by all who knew him.
James is survived by his wife, Barbara (Pino) Gallegos; daughters, Nicole Pino, Natalie Gallegos, and Christina Gonzalez; siblings, Thomas (Theresa) Gallegos, Felix (Viola) Gallegos, Cecilia Gallegos, Joseph (Annette) Gallegos, and Michael Gallegos; grandchildren, James Romero, Lilyanna Gonzalez, Noah Staples and Violette Gonzalez; godchildren, David Garcia and Kehlani Montoya.
Funeral Mass, 10 am, Mon., June 9, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Military honors, Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.
