Raymond Rico Obituary

Raymond V. Rico, 62, affectionately known to friends and family as “Rico” passed away unexpectedly on February 2nd, 2024. Raymond was a proud Marine Corp. Veteran. He served as Private First Cass in the United States Marine Corporation from 1979, where he received both his Rifle & Pistol Expert Badge as well as his Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged in 1982.

After service, Raymond lived his life as a mechanic and musician. There was no automobile he couldn’t fix or instrument he couldn’t play. In the 90’s, Rico along with friends, formed the Band Cheek to Cheek. They were the house band for many places from Pueblo to Alamosa, Trinidad, and Raton. He played in various church praise bands where he gave to the Lord his gift of music and worship.

Raymond lived on the wild side, Rock & Roll as he would call it, but found a home being a grandfather. His love for sweet Reese was unconditional. You could find him picking her up to go on walkabouts, collecting rocks, wrestling on the ground, sneaking Coca Cola to drink, or making trinkets only the two of them knew how to work.

Raymond was born to Joseph Rico and Margaret (Masterson) Rico in Boston, MS. 1961. Preceded in death his parents along with his sisters, Dolores “Lori” Rico & Tammy Vera-Rico. Raymond was survived by his children, Joseph Rico, Rejeanna (Michael) Livengood, Rosie (Hope) Palumbo-Griser; Granddaughter, Reese Livengood; Sisters, Luanne (Harold) Infante & Anita Clemens; Aunt, Lucy Masterson; his forever sidekick fur baby, President Lincoln, along with numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
