Rebecca S. Valdez

Rebecca S. Valdez, 70, passed away on January 23, 2026. A proud, lifelong Puebloan, she was born on February 4, 1955, to Mark “Omar” Mendez & Carmelita Lopez Valdez, who precede her in death.

Rebecca was a graduate of South High School. She was a member of Pueblo Christian Center. She was a woman of strong faith and a true believer. She worked many years as a Psych Tech at the Colorado State Hospital.  Rebecca was a great mother and an incredible grandmother.  Her grandchildren were her world!  She loved to shop, sing, and spend time with her friend, Julie. She had the best laugh.  It was so contagious, you couldn’t help but laugh along with her.

Rebecca leaves behind to cherish her memory; her children, Bryan Valdez (Chantelle), Craig Valdez, and Deidra Valdez; grandchildren, Isaiah Valdez, Caleb Valdez, Aramea Valdez, and Keziah Valdez; great- grandchild on the way; sister, Kathryn Sapeda; nephew, Brent Orozco and the father of her children Gilbert Valdez; many family members and friends.

She will be missed by all that knew her.
