Ricardo Silvas, beloved husband and father, died June 7, 2025 in Colorado Springs at Penrose Hospital. His wishes were for a simple cremation with no services. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Pueblo Rescue Mission.
Ricardo was a man who took great delight in life. He was an avid bicyclist who could rebuild any bicycle and true up the bicycle wheel spokes by eye. He talked about getting a third wind when riding long distance. In his youth he won awards for his lowriders at the Great Western in Pomona, California and cruised Whittier Boulevard. He loved twisting a wrench and rebuilding cars. He framed over 150 blocks of houses in Stockton, California. In addition to being a master carpenter and skilled mechanic, he was a man of kindness and heartfelt generosity. It was always his joy to help others whether providing a meal for a neighbor or friend in need, doing some mechanic work, helping with yard work, or fixing a fence that had broken in a windstorm.
Even when times were difficult, he was always ready with a joke or a smile. He described himself as a sinner after God’s heart and when asked to draw a picture of his relationship with God drew a child with his hand in the adult’s hand that was God. His spirit shone in every action. He touched people’s hearts and lives more than he knew and he will be deeply missed.
He leaves behind his daughters: Angelique, Carly, Cici, and Delia; his brothers and sisters in California: Lola, Joe, Norah, Bernie, and Danny; plus, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; and his wife, Tamsin. He wished all those who loved him to have this poem by Donna Ashworth as well as prayers for their comfort.
When I Go
When I go don’t learn to live without me just learn to live with my love in a different way.
And if you need to see me, close your eyes or look in your shadow when the sun shines.
I’m here.
Sit with me in the quiet and you will know that I did not leave
There is no leaving when a soul is blended with another
When I go don’t learn to live without me just learn to look for me in the moments
I will be there.
