Obituary
Richard Lee Maes, 72, passed away Sept. 8, 2023. He was born Feb. 16, 1951 in Trinidad, CO. to proud parents Armanda Maes and Paul Barela. Both precede him in death.
Richard retired from Golden Corral after many years of service where he met lifelong friends. He loved to cook and entertain. He was very faithful, always praying the rosary daily. Richard was a momma’s boy, he loved his mother dearly. He loved to dance, visit the neighbors and help anyone in need. Richard was a great role model to his nephews, sharing words of wisdom and life lessons. “Never leave yourself to nobody but always have respect.”
Richard is survived his brother, Ben “David” (Lorraine) Barela; sister, Donna (Phil) Barela-Roy; nephews, Phil (Christa), Eugene Roy, Ben Barela, David Barela and Tim (Lisa) Roy; niece, Davine (Anthony); special friends, Pam Roque, Annie Vallejos, Albert Bernal, Dennis Solano, Jessica and Beverly; several great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who loved Richard and will miss him dearly.
