Rita Priscilla Gutierrez, 72, passed away Jan. 1, 2025. She was born Jan. 9, 1952 in Colorado to parents, Pascaul and Pauline (Peteque) Moreno. Both precede her in death along with husband, Joe Gutierrez and her brother, Nash Moreno.
Rita was a 1970 graduate from Centennial High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a Eucharist Minister for the elderly and shut ins. Rita was a prayer warrior for family and friends. She was a member of The Nocturnal Adoration Society with the nuns for over 20 years at St. Marys Catholic Church. She taught catechism at St. Leander’s Church for 16 years. Most of all she loved to be with her grandchildren sharing her life stories, lessons, words of wisdom and her love for each of them.
Rita is survived by her children, Joey (Tracy) Gutierrez, Jodene (Gabby) Muniz, and Shanae Gutierrez; 9 grandchildren, Tanisha, Adam, Joseph (Elura), Alexus, Tehya (Armondo), Christopher (Alicia), Sharisa, Brandon (Ashantee), and Nate; 11 great grandchildren; in-laws, Anthony (Frances) Gutierrez, Dave (Eva) Gutierrez, Rose Risoli-Lopez, Berna (Jesus) Castillo, and Katie Cordova; godchild, Dawna (Scott) Robb; special friends Maryann Sawa, Eva Maldonando; comadre and special friend, Jessie Muniz; several nieces, nephews and friends who loved and will miss her.
Special thank you to our sister, Shanae and niece, Sharisa for the extra love and care they provided for our Mom during her final months.
Rosary 9:30am with Mass of Christian Burial, 10 am, Thurs., Jan. 9, 2025 both at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery.
