Rose grew up in Walsenburg, Colorado where she met the love of her life in elementary school, George Charles Ibañez, Sr. They grew up together and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She took pride in her work as a typist at the depot and later as an educator at Bradford Elementary. She retired in 1998 but filled her years with raising and educating every child that passed through her doors.
Rose Marie loved to go on adventures with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite getaway was camping in the mountains. In her later years, she enjoyed segunda runs, playing cards and scrabble. Deeply devoted to her faith, she raised her family in the Catholic church. As a long-time parishioner of St. Leander’s, she never missed Sunday mass until the pandemic in 2020.
Rose was dedicated to serving her community in so many capacities - as a Den Mom, a politically active volunteer, a migrant rights advocate, and as a church festival worker. We will remember Rose for her poise, humor, wit, unconditional love, kind smile and heart-warming embraces. She was beautiful inside and out and we will miss her eternally.
