Rosemary McGowen

Rosemary McGowen, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at The Life Care Center in Pueblo, Colorado.

Rosemary was born on April 17, 1934 in Chacon, New Mexico, to Fidelia Gonzales. She later married the love of her life, Raymond McGowen, and together they built a life in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Although Rosemary did not have children of her own, she was blessed with a large and loving family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who cherished her deeply and brought great joy to her life.

She is survived by her brother, Joe Torres of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members.  For several years, Rosemary was lovingly cared for by her niece, Mary Sanchez, before moving into nursing care. 

Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond McGowen; her sisters, Amada “Amy” Archuleta and Mary Romero; and her brothers, Juvencio Gonzales, Tim Gonzales, and Amador Gonzales.

Rosemary worked for Mervyn’s Department Store, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures included, traveling to the casinos, drinking grape wine, eating tacos, snacking on sunflower seeds, and indulging her love of chocolate.

A devout Catholic throughout her life, Rosemary’s faith was the cornerstone of who she was. She prayed the Rosary daily, often several times a day, and found great comfort in watching EWTN, listening to the Rosary and Holy Mass. Wherever Rosemary was, there were always one to three rosaries close at hand. Her unwavering faith provided strength, comfort, and inspiration to those around her.

Known for her intelligence, kindness, and friendly spirit, Rosemary became a motherly figure to many staff during her time at nursing homes in La Jara, CO, Evergreen Nursing Home in Alamosa, CO, and The Life Care Center in Pueblo, CO. She formed meaningful friendships and touched countless lives with her warmth, wisdom, and caring nature.

Rosemary will be remembered for her strong faith, loving heart, quick wit, sense of humor, and the special way she made others feel welcomed and loved. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Interment services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Daniels Family Sara Road Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87124.

The family invites all who knew and loved Rosemary to join them in celebrating her life and keeping her memory alive through prayer and acts of kindness. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rosemary's name may be made to Sangre de Cristo Community Care, 1920 Valley Drive, Pueblo, CO 81008. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Sangre de Cristo Community Care for the kindness, compassion, and exceptional care they provided to Rosemary during her final days.
