Ruby Gonzales, 77, passed away Dec 24, 2021. She was born in New Mexico on September 7, 1944, to parents Ruben and Avelina Lucero. Both of her parents precede her in death along with her spouse of fifty-eight years, Manuel Gonzales; her father and mother-in-law, Rumaldo and Facunda Gonzales; grandson, Raymond Gonzales Jr.; brothers, Ruben Rafael Lucero, and Ruben Lucero Jr.; sister, Abelina Trujillo; and sibling-in-laws, Jose Clovis Pacheco Sr., and Ben (Irene) Martinez.
Ruby was a graduate of Pueblo County High and a member of St. Vincent de Paul where she volunteered helping prepare food baskets. Ruby loved to crochet, go out to eat, and spend time with her family. She will be remembered for her home cooking and hospitality when family and friends would come to the house to visit. Ruby loved when people would call or visit her. She also loved working at Angelus Chapel as a lady attendant, she considered her colleagues her second family. She was a well-respected individual in the community. In 2019, she was a Candidate for the Colorado State Fair Silver Queen Pageant. She received the People Choice Award for receiving between 7,000 – 10,000 votes. She was also gained recognition for having the highest votes in the pageants History. Her Biggest Pride and Joy were her Grandchildren.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Katherine Gonzales, Ralph (Lisa) Gonzales, Raymond (Jackie) Gonzales; grandchildren, Celestina and Richard Lynch, Brandy Bono, and Zaylen and RaeLee Gonzales; sisters, Gloria (Bernie) Lucero, Isabel (Danny) Pena, Esmeralda (John) Reyna, Elizabeth (Dell) Archuleta; sibling-in-laws, Dora Pacheco, Mary (Larry) Martinez, Betty (Johnnie) Mascarenas, Flora (Erdwin) Lujan, Stella (Melvin) Valdez, Adeline (Ernie) Gettler, Mary Ellen (Alvin) Rojas, Christine (Tony) Hernandez, and Roger Trujillo; her Angelus Chapel Family, The McCulley’s, Phyllis, and Ray and numerous other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
