Sadie Cortez

Sadie Cortez, 91, affectionately known as “Auntie” passed away peacefully at home Aug 4, 2023. Auntie was born May 15, 1932 to Severiano and Maxine Cortez in Pueblo, CO. She is preceded in death by her sisters Frances Cortez Velasquez (Gabriel) and Angelina Cortez Dewar (John); brothers, David and Ernest Cortez; brother-in-law, Richard Mora; nephews, Richard Mora Jr. and Kyle Gabriel Eller.

Auntie attended Mt. Carmel parish and an active member of de Nuestra Sra. De Guadalupe Society. Member of Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW). On the first Saturday of each month spent an hour of Nocturnal Adoration at St. Mary Parish. Godmother to two nieces, two nephews and three Great-great nephews. She was a Broncos fan. She loved bowling, playing cards, going to the casinos, and watching John Wayne movies.

Her love was for her family as she helped raise nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews in her home. Auntie went well beyond and shared her love and generosity with all her nieces, and nephews, extended families, and friends including 14 nieces & nephews, 26 Great nieces & nephews, 29 Great-great nieces and nephews and her dog Brutus.

She will be remembered as “Auntie” for her gentle smile, warm heart, serene and sweet generosity to all.

She is survived by her sister, Helen Mora; nieces, Julianna Mora, Jennifer Mora Eller (David), Rachelle Mora Goldsboro (Gary); nephew, Michael Mora; great nephews and nieces, Jarod & Julianna Eller, Kristin & Benton Sneed, Margo & Jon Beltz, Gary Jr. & Kirsten Goldsboro; great-great nephews and nieces, Jude, Max, Roman, Scarlett, Dawson, Piper Thea, Whitney, Knox, Sadie Bo, Wyatt, Sebastian and Jon Jr.; children of her sisters Frances and Angelina, brothers David and Ernest.

Mass of Christian Burial, 10 am, Fri. Aug. 11, 2023 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Internment at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Sangre de Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care in Sadie's name.
