Sandy was a labor and delivery nurse for over 30 years at Parkview Hospital where she had the sacred duty to help bring new life into our world. She loved working and caring for new moms and over the years accumulated many letters and cards of thanks for her special brand of kindness and compassion that she showed families. Sandy was also a world traveler – from hitting the beaches of Mexico, to cruising in the Caribbean, to exploring locations all over Europe, she has a zest for life that keep her going for over a decade after her dementia diagnosis. Sandy enjoyed reading, taking long walks in nature, listening to Fleetwood Mac, and finding ways to be silly and joyful despite her circumstance. Everyone who knew Sandy can picture that bright smile she constantly had etched on her face. She chose to wake up each day and, with the help of her caregiver Nico Aguilar, make it “a good one”. Her compassion, her resilience, and her laughter will all be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
