Steve David Rains, also known as “Pitt,” gained his wings on January 18, 2026.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Jose Steve Rains Jr.; his papa and best friend, Charles Johnston; his great-grandparents, James and Sarah Newman; his favorite uncle, Jasper Montez; and his uncle, Leroy Tafoya.
He is survived by his children: Lily (Mariah), Steve “SJ”, Charles “Chucky”, Gerald “Fatty” Rains; and his stepchildren: Jacob Harman, Aundrea, Harmony, and Fernando Culpepper, Kayann Wear. He is also survived by his mother, Gerri (Salvador) Johnston Santiago; his loving Nanny, Jama Johnston, who protected him and never left his side; his grandmother, Mary Martinez; his loving girlfriend, Jessie Culpepper; his sisters, Kayla (Frankie) Rains, Jasmine (Dee) Rains, and Ashley (Jerry) Roybal; the mothers of his children, Alissa Sandoval and Vanessa Wear; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. One of his closest friends was his best friend, Dean. As well as his close friends Justin Todisco, Bill and Spanky.
Steve loved to cook and he loved to eat, but his greatest loves were his children and the Denver Broncos. Stevie had a big heart. He loved all of his kids, as well as all the other kids he adopted along the way. He treated everyone with respect and had a heart bigger than himself.
