Teresa E. Almeda, 75, affectionately known as “Terri” to family and friends, and "Marmo" to her grandchildren, passed away January 28, 2023. A lifetime Puebloan she was born September 28, 1947 to parents Jesus and Pauline (Rodriguez) Almeda, both precede her in death, along with her siblings, David and Patricia Almeda.
Terri tended bar in her younger years at the Tick Tock Tavern, where she had many customers and lifelong friends. She was the former co-owner of the Lakeview Inn. She was a hairdresser for many years, and also sat on the state board of cosmetology.
Terri graduated with a Bachelors of Social Work from the University of Southern Colorado. During her time at USC she was a proud member of Las Hermanas, where she served as President. In her work as a social worker, she always wanted to find the avenues to the solutions for those she assisted. Terri would later retire from Otero Junior College.
Terri was a devout Catholic and a very active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. She served as a longtime catechist, and the religious education director for many years. Her family was so important to her, sharing the love, the stories and family traditions. She had the best personality, she enjoyed talking, you were only a stranger to her once.
Terri is survived by her son, Jerome (Sheryl) Lemons; grandchildren, Kiaya Lucero, Terrence Lemons, Kianna Lemons, Kendra Lemons and Derrick Lemons; siblings, Tito Almeda, Mike Almeda, Frank (Estelle) Almeda and Jessica (Felipe) Flores; numerous family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
