Tomas Alfonso Rodriguez

Tomas Alfonso Rodriguez, 87 of Fowler, CO passed away on February 23, 2026.  He was born on October 22, 1938 to proud parents, Thomas and Ida (Rains) Rodriguez.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Ida Rodriguez; wife, Evelyn Rodriguez; sisters, Cecilia Aragon, Mary Aragon and Connie Manchego; brothers Ben Rodiguez, David Rodriguez and John Rodriguez.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons Tommy (Tracy) Rodriguez, Phil (Esther) Hernandez and Larry Hernandez; daughters Val (Jim) Gager, Lorraine Flores, Theresa (Mike) Sadler, Darlene (Steve) Plumley; brother Raymond Rodriguez; 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tomas served 20 years in the US military.  He won numerous medals. Including the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medals with 3 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation medal 2 Bars. After completing his service in the U.S Marine Corp and U.S Army, he went to work for the Fowler CO-OP.  He worked at the CO-OP as a foreman for 25 years, where he had the pleasure of working with all 3 sons at one point. While working with the CO-OP he also served in the National Guard until he retired from the military in 1997.

He had a quiet and ornery sense of humor. He loved making everyone laugh, especially Evelyn. He was a kind soul that never complained. He told his son Tommy when he was growing up, “Son part of being a man is doing things you don’t necessarily want to do. You do them because they are family”. These are words he lived by daily. 

He was always there for the love of his life Evelyn, his children, grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. He lived a simple life and appreciated life as it was.  He will be greatly missed in the lives of his family. His legacy will live on in the family that he cherished above all else.
