Valerie A. Martinez

Valerie A. Martinez, 62, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on May 28, 2021. A lifetime Puebloan she was born December 5, 1958, to proud parents, Fred and Pauline (Marez) Martinez both preceded her in death along with her brother Mark Martinez and daughter, Shawna Martinez. Valerie enjoyed going for rides and sightseeing. She loved spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid fan of Colorado sports teams. Valerie was an excellent cook, especially her enchiladas. She loved to cook, clean and fuss with her witty personality that will be missed. Valerie is survived by her husband, John Gaines; her children, Jenna and Janae Martinez; siblings, Chuck (Yvonne) Martinez, Mike (Maria) Martinez, Paula (Gene) Ayala, Kathy (Ron) Barela and Frieda Martinez; 7 grandchildren, Marcos, Nathaniel, Nailah, Amaya, Lelon, Ismail, Kahlil; 2 great grandchildren, Sophia and Layla; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved and will miss Valerie.
