Vance Lee Griffis, 82, surrounded by family and friends went to be with Jesus on Jan. 17, 2025. Vance was a veteran medic in the Army. Vance worked multiple jobs to put himself through college. He attained his Master’s degree from the Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA. He was also a double retired Health Inspector of both Louisiana State and El Paso County. Vance loved with his entire heart and always put his family and friends before himself. He loved to hunt bear, deer, elk, turkeys and fishing.
Vance was born in Bastrop, LA on March 14, 1942. He was always the happiest when making his family happy and spending time with them. He loved and enjoyed trips through the mountains looking at the fall colors and just spending time at the places he found. To just watch the wildlife and enjoy nature and the calm peaceful quietness these places provided. Vance’s parents had 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls. Vance always told people that he was the oldest out of the second litter his parents had.
Vance’s father Johnnie and mother Ossie Mae Griffis of Bastrop, LA; three sisters, two brothers, and wife, Elizabeth Griffis of 49 years, preceded him in death.
Vance is survived by wife of 3 years, Robin; daughter, Tanja; grandkids, Victoria and Charles, 6 great grandkids, Morgan, Alex, Destin, Skylynn, Arabella and Nova. He is also survived by his sister, Robbie and brother, Peyton whom he was extremely close to, and many nieces and nephews.
Vance is now the brightest star in the sky to his daughter Tanja whom he always called “Doll”
