Vetterio Marquette Holden, 88, passed away October 17, 2025. He was born in Rockingham, North Carolina on October 8, 1937. He attended elementary school in North Carolina and was a proud graduate of E.E. Smith High School. Vetterio entered the United States Army in 1963 and proudly served 20 years, receiving many honors and the rank of 1st Sgt. On October 12, 1966. Vetterio met Margaret E. Holden, the love of his life, and there began their life’s journey always trusting in God-The father, Jesus Christ-Our Redeemer, and The Holy Spirit, for daily guidance. Out of that union are two sons, Vincent and Victor. Vetterio spent his military career in the positions of Military Police and Military Police Investigator with assignments all over the world, including Korea and Germany. After retiring from the military at Fort Riley, KS, he moved his family to Colorado Springs and was employed by the Department of Corrections in Canon City for 15 years as a Corrections Officer/ Counselor. When Vetterio wasn’t serving his country, he was showing up and being available, serving his community and church family at Payne Chapel, where the family became members in 1983. Terry was very active in the church serving on many committees and ministries during the over 40 years of stewardship at Payne Chapel. Terry, affectionately known as Pop, Poppa, Poppy, and Uncle T, had a deep love for music and was quite the dancer. He enjoyed traveling with his family and was very athletic, actively participating in basketball and golf. Although he was a sports lover, his favorite sport to watch was track and field. Terry, leaves to cherish his memory, his honey and love of his life, Margaret, daughter :Teresa Renee ( Russell) Worthy; sons: Vincent Maurice Holden and Victor Marcelle Holden; Grandsons: Michael Lewis Holden, Vaurice Marquette Holden, Vicari Monte’ Holden, Vishon Malik Holden, Tavares Lee Waldner; Granddaughters: Marissa Danielle Blackman, Sherina Rose Holden, Rayah LaSha Holden, Simone Elizabeth Holden; Great-grandchildren: Noah, Niema, Daveon, Elijah, Masai, and Karissa; Sisters: Ethelyn Holden and Kaye Simmons, and a host of nieces and nephews. Vetterio was preceded in death by his eldest son Vetterio Marquette Holden Jr.
